The Becky Scruggs Library, named for long-time volunteer librarian, Becky Scruggs, is maintained to provide reading, learning, and teaching materials for the entire GFUMC congregation.  The library has a variety of books, periodicals, Bible studies, audio cassette tapes, video cassette tapes, and DVD’s available for circulation, as well as an expansive reference section for use in the library.  Our goal is to provide materials for individuals, groups, teachers, and staff to help promote the spiritual growth of all ages.

Assistance
The library is self-service; however, if you need assistance, contact Pat Federico or Ann Lee. Patrons are responsible for checking out and returning materials according to the posted instructions. The computer in the library is available for patron use to assist in locating specific books, authors, subjects, etc. To log on, follow the instructions posted on the desk. Information cards for all materials are also filed alphabetically in the card catalog by title, author, and subject. The card catalog is on the work counter.

Check-Out/In Procedures
All materials are due in two weeks. To check out materials:

  1. Remove the check-out card, generally located in the back of books, and inside the front cover of videos and DVD’s.
  2.  Write or stamp the date due on the card and sign your name. A date stamp and calendar are located on the desk. Place the card in the basket labeled “Check-Out Cards.”
  3.  As a reminder to yourself, also write or stamp the date due on the slip attached to the material being checked out.  This will help you remember when the material is due back.

To return materials, simply place them in the basket labeled “Book Return.”  A library volunteer will then clear the check-out card and re-shelve the material.  Please do not place materials on shelves.

If you want to extend the loan for two more weeks, just leave a note in the library “IN” basket.
