Guntersville First is known for its mission and ministry locally and around the world.  As we live into our mission and ministry in the time of a pandemic, we look for meaningful ways to continue to do ministry.  Pastor Ricky Smith recently introduced NEXT ministry to our church…but what is NEXT?

Nnew ways to do mission and ministry in our present environment.

E – ministry is exciting in that we are addressing a true ministry need in the                  community.

X– is for ministry that is executable and done with excellence

T – is for timely.  We must engage the community in a way that takes into                      consideration the environment in which we currently live.

With NEXT in mind, Pastor Ricky Smith invites us all to join together in participating in new ministries as we go forward.  The following are new ways in which we can engage the community for Jesus Christ. We would also love for you to share with us any new ideas for mission and ministry in our community in such a time as this.

Special Blessings assist families with school aged special needs children. Our goal is to help make school days easier. We are looking for 20 sponsors of special needs children (ages 3-5) to provide diapers, wipes, snacks, and drinks for the children’s time at school.  The supplies would be purchased by Lori Skidmore the special needs teacher and made available in the classroom.  This would take the burden off the parents who are struggling as is.  More information is contained in the attached file “Special Blessings” a letter from Lori Skidmore.  This is an immediate need.  If your family, Sunday school class, or small group would like to sponsor a family for $75.00 per month, for 10 months, please contact Heather Epperson with any further details and questions.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides twin size beds and bunk beds for children in our community who have been sleeping on the floor or couch or other piece of furniture.  We are in conversation with the Hartselle Chapter President and will be planning a “bed build” for the near future.  We will be contacting schoolteachers and counselors and local leaders to identify specific families with need.  Please see the website “” for more information.  Pastor Ricky Smith is the in-house contact person at this time.
Open Doors is a food sharing ministry.  Mark Mayo has secured a large amount of tasty frozen chicken fingers (5 lb bags) to be shared with our community.  They are stored in the freezer in the Family Life Center and the freezer in the Worship Center.  This food is for a new neighbor, a neighbor in need, a co-worker, etc.  We want to use the food share as an opportunity to make new relationships in our community.  Please contact Rev. Mark Mayo for more information.
